Affiliate Program FAQ's
What is an affiliate?
Simply put, an affiliate is someone who sells someone else's products or services in exchange for a commission.
When you sign up for Property Update’s affiliate program, you receive a unique link that you can put on your web site or in your e-mail messages. Anyone who clicks this link will be directed to our web site. If they make a purchase, you automatically receive a commission -- your share of the purchase price

Do I need a web site?
To become a successful affilate and earn reasonable commissions you need a website which provides you with a 'hub' -- a place where visitors can get more information about property, welath creation, business or the like.
If you market your web site successfully, you'll get thousands of people coming to your site each month -- which translates into more sales as an affiliate when you refer them to our web site.
Of all the visitors I send too your website, how many will buy?
Of course not everyone you send to our web site will buy something. In fact most won’t!
If your clients or visitors come to our website and sign up for our e-magazine, they remain tagged as your clients, so that when they eventually buy something from our online store you will receive a commission.
And with a wide range of books, CD’s, DVD’s and seminars beginning at less than $30, many of the readers of our e-magazine buy products on line.
Of course the type of traffic you generate has a direct effect on the percentage of people that buy.
For example, if you're promoting "Property Update" on a site that sells pet supplies, it would be reasonable to expect very few sales, as these visitors are not targeted (i.e. they're looking for animal supplies, not property investment information).
However, if you have a site that relates to property or wealth creation you could expect to see results such as one out of every 50 visitors buying, because they're the perfect target audience.

How do I get paid once I make a sale?
All payments are made via electronic transfer into your bank account.
Our shopping cart system notifies you of all sales made and at the any time you can download a report of sales made and commissions owing to you.
At the end of each month, when you provide us with tax invoice, we will pay you promptly. To see if you have made any sales, you can always log in to your affiliate account at a special web address we will give you and check your sales and your commissions owing.
If, for any reason, you're over- or underpaid one month, the difference will be added to or deducted from the following check.
What kind of income can I expect?
This will depend upon how much traffic you send to our site and how targeted the traffic is.
It also depends upon how long you have been part of our affiliate program. The longer you are part of the program, the more likely that visitors that you send to our site are to have become familiar with us and our fortnightly newsletter, and the more likely they are to buy something from our online store.

How will my visitors order?
We take care of everything! You just need to direct the visitors to the PropertyUpdate.com.au web site through your affiliate links, and we'll look after taking the order, delivering the product, and providing customer service.
When one of your visitors clicks through your affiliate link on your web site, they get transferred to our web site.
They may just subscribe to our e-magazine and that’s fine, but you don’t get paid anything for that.
But they are tagged as your client and when they eventually buy something from our online store the shopping cart ordering system takes over and automatically processes the order - while recording your affiliate identification number, guaranteeing that you're credited for the sale.
How will you keep track of orders coming form my site?
It's easy! When you sign up as a Property Update affiliate, you will be assigned a unique identification number.
This unique identification number is included in every URL that you use to link to the PropertyUpdate.com.au web site.
Well, it's this number that we use to track how many visitors you send to our site, and how many sales you refer!
We have special software that runs seamlessly in the background, automatically tracking everything without your visitors even being aware of it!
Now, in the case of all the "copy and paste" e-mail promotions, classified ads, banner adsand text links that we provide you with to promote the various affiliate products, we have already added your unique affiliate identification number.
However, if you decide to write a personal letter of referral and e-mail it to your customers and subscribers -- or if you write your own text link or article about a Property Update affiliate product to add to your web site -- you'll need to use the correct affiliate URL with your unique affiliate identification number in it.
How do I copy and paste promotions to my site.
We've taken the necessary "copy and paste" function that you're familiar with from most computer programs, and automated it. This means that you can now add the HTML code for our product promotions to your web site or e-mail campaign with only three very simple steps:
- Step one: Copy the code for the promotional material you want to add
- Step two: Prepare your site for inserting the code
- Step three: Paste the code into your site
You don't have to be able to work in HTML, or even understand it. If you can type, you can add a product promotion.
The only thing you need to be able to do is set up your web editing software so that it shows you both your web page as it actually appears, PLUS the underlying HTML code.
All of the major web editing tools -- including FrontPage, DreamWeaver and GoLive -- have the ability to do this with just the click of a button. Consult your program's online help if you're not sure.
How do I get started with the Affiliate program?
To get started with our affiliate program, you need to first decide which product (or products) you want to promote.
We recommend that anyone new to our program start by recommending visitors sign up as subscribers to the Property Investment Update e-magazine. You do this by either recommending the newsletter in your email newsletters or having a link on your web site.
We recommend this because your clients are likely to take up this offer as it is free and they receive 2 bonus e-books for subscribing. Down the track when they buy a product from our online store they will be tagged as your client and you will receive a commission for the referral.
The next step is to promote the top selling book How to Grow a Multi Million Dollar Property Portfolio - in your spare time - as this appeals to a much broad audience, and is easy to sell as we provide you with a graphic link to put on your web site.
My sales commissions aren't that high. What’s wrong?
Even the most successful affiliates start off small, so don't be worried if your first month does not produce overwhelming results.
Getting a site to produce large referral fees takes months of "tweaking" to see what is most effective for your particular site.
Frankly, you need a lot of traffic to your site to be receiving huge monthly commissions. Before you can start earning significant commissions each month, you'll need to increase the traffic to your web site.
There have been a few people in the past who have expected to earn huge commissions each month, despite the fact that their web sites were only getting a few hundred visitors each month. The fact of the matter is that if you're not getting many visitors to your site, then you will not get many people linking through to PropertyUpdate.com.au, and you will not make a lot in referral fees.
